Description

Please select this option if you require a replacement certificate of an original certificate awarded by Glyndwr University and/or Wrexham University, where the original certificate has never been received in the post and you have advised the University of this within 6 months of the date of posting of the original certificate.

A certificate is an important legal document and should be treated as such.  Wrexham University will not issue replacement/duplicate certificates to any applicant holding an undamaged original certificate.  Replacement/Duplicate certificates, whilst of the same standing as the originals they replace, are produced in the layout used at the present time, and may therefore differ in presentation from the originals.  Please note, replacement certificates will not be produced if you have any outstanding debt owing to the University.

Replacement Certificates – a replacement certificate will be provided, if you declare in writing by completing the questionnaire that follows, that you have not received the original certificate in the post.  The certificate will not be deemed to be lost until the following timescales have elapsed:

where the certificate has been posted to an address in the UK, 4 weeks from the date of posting;
where the certificate has been posted to an address outside the UK, 2 months from the date of posting.

  • There is no charge for a replacement certificate where the original is lost in the post, provided that you advise the University within 6 months of the date of posting of the original certificate.  If you advise the University after that time, a charge of £50 will be made for the replacement.
  • The replacement certificate will be annotated as the second issue of the certificate.
  • Replacement certificates will bear the name of the recipient as recorded by the University at the time of conferment of the award.
  • You will be required to sign a declaration stating that if the original re-appears it will be returned to the University immediately.

NB: All original certificates will become invalid following the issue of a replacement certificate.

You must also complete the questionnaire that follows in order to finalise your order. You will need to have the following information available in order to complete the questionnaire:

  • Your Student ID Number (this is an 8 digit number and can be obtained from your student ID card)
  • A contact email address – an email confirming your order will be sent to this email address
  • A contact telephone number (including area code)
  • Your postal address.

When ordering your replacement certificate, it will be posted out to you by standard second class untracked mail. However you may purchase additional postage options to expedite the delivery process. Please also note that the University will not dispatch a replacement certificate to the same address that it was previously sent to unless you pay to have this sent to you by Royal Mail Signed For or a trackable method of postage. Alternatively you can provide an alternative, secure postage address to which we will dispatch your certificate. Below are the various postage options available (please note that delivery times are not guaranteed):

  • Standard – despatched via standard Royal Mail second class post to any worldwide address (this is not a trackable postage option)
  • Royal Mail Signed For (next working day) – for addresses within the UK only. You will be required to provide a signature upon receipt of your certificate.
