This course is ideal for you if you’re interested in learning the basic concepts of graphic design including the use of colours and typography. It will also introduce you to the relevant Adobe software packages to help you produce your own graphic design pieces such as adverts, logos or posters.

Course content:

• Introduction – research into styles and format
• Concept sketching and layout skills – sketching practice, text blocking
• Typography – introduction to Illustrator
• Iconography – Illustrator drawing
• Advertising and poster design introduction - Introduction to InDesign
• Colour theory – InDesign layout
• Logo design introduction – design a logo
• Editorial design introduction – design a spread
• Presentation (choice between logo, editorial, poster brief)

This course will be delivered on-campus in class, using Adobe software.

This course will run for 9 weeks. Classes will take place every Tuesday between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. in our Centre for Creative Industries building on our Plas Coch campus.
